In the Bible, the word prophecy is the Greek word ‘propheteuete’ which can be translated as, ‘To foretell events or to speak under inspiration.’ Most of the Old Testament prophets were foretelling of events to come, and in the New Testament prophets spoke forth God’s word. During the days of the New Testament church, there were no bibles and the gift of prophecy was used to spread the good news of Jesus Christ, along with the letters of the Apostles. So the question is, if God’s word is finished and complete, what would the purpose of prophecy be today? Let’s talk about it!
